The delamination of metalized multilayer flexible packaging using a microperforation technique

Multilayer flexible packaging waste is a critical issue in the field of management as it considered non-recyclable material. One solutions to increase its recyclability delamination, which allows recycling different polymer layers separately. This study investigated optimization delamination by microperforating this plastic. The diffusion model was described Fick's first law. process tested at three temperatures (50, 65 and 80 °C) with caustic soda. In addition, influence other parameters such thickness aluminium layer, presence inks use surfactants tested. As result, microperforation technique improved rate decreasing residence time 83% optimum conditions studied, being metal temperature essential factors affecting process. However, surfactant had no effect.
